Maxey is a twenty one-year-old journalist studying print journalism at California State University, Fullerton. She has earned two Associates of Arts Degrees for Transfer from San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA in communication studies and journalism.
After experiencing a variety of different jobs at college newspapers, Maxey seeks a new challenge. She aims to tell stories in innovative ways using multimedia, social media and online engagement. Her reporting experience equipped her with writing, editing, fact checking, interviewing, design and WordPress skills. Recently, Maxey has been spending her time perfecting her multimedia and social media skills as a journalist.
Maxey serves as the social media editor at the Daily Titan, the student newspaper at California State University, Fullerton. She was previously the news editor and assistant to the layout editor.
From fall 2014 to spring 2016 Maxey was a member of San Joaquin Delta College’s student newspaper The Collegian. Most recently she served as the news editor and social media editor.
Maxey is and always have been an active member of her community. She was involved in student government in high school and served a year as ASB Treasurer. As a member of ASB, Maxey planned school functions, led charity events and taught young leaders. Along with student government, she was involved in her school’s inaugural chapter of The National Honor Society.
For five years, Maxey gave back to her community by spending time as a volunteer basketball coach for youth boys. She was involved in the city of Galt’s Parks and Recreation program as well as the Nor Cal AAU program. Taking on a leadership role such as a coach equipped Maxey with advanced communication skills that she will use for the rest of her career. She learned how to be a successful teacher and role model throughout her years of coaching.
